Cultural Heritage Skills Award 2016

Congratulations to Steve Clare who is the first to receive this new award, presented at the ‘Creative & Cultural Skills Awards 2016’, by ICON chief executive Alison Richmond.  Offered in tandem by ICON, and Creative and Cultural Skills, it recognises the efforts of Steve through his work at Holy Well Glass in inspiring and providing learning opportunities for young people, and encouraging them to enter the heritage sector.

I am really pleased to receive this Cultural Heritage Skills Award which is a great boost for stained glass conservation.  This is a tiny industry, which nevertheless carries out vital work in preserving our cultural heritage for future generations.  It is vitally important that younger people are encouraged into the profession, this award not only recognizes my hard work over many years in promoting training, but that of a dedicated group of senior professionals in our discipline.  Stained glass conservation is fascinating and rewarding work, offering a genuinely equal opportunity career path.”

Steve Clare.
